Since the New York summer has been so mild and I have been so bored, I decided to make granola. The night before, I was reading this granola recipe and felt the urge to make it. Except without pecans because they are gross. So, I made a batch of this recipe for my mom and then I made a batch with almonds and blueberries for me. I added ground flax seed (not the roasted) for extra omega-3s and then I braided my armpit hair. That is not true but it sounds like I am going in the dirty hippie direction here. The toasted-dried blueberries were pretty gross, so I picked every single one, which was probably 20 for the $3.99 spent, out and threw in the rest of the dried cranberries. And then it was good. I’ve never made it before and it turned out very crunchy which is much better than the grocery store granolas.
I woke up today with more domestic powers and an exorbitant amount of organizing energy that I attribute to my new addiction to HGTV make-over shows. I ended up tearing my parent’s den apart and loaded bags to donate to the Salvation Army. My parents are going to move in the next few years and I want to help my mom with the process of downsizing her life. Seriously, I saw (on HGTV) this older couple, way older than my parents, trying to move and get rid of the things they own and it was very traumatic.
Tomorrow my mom and I are going to do some sewing. I brought a bag of things that need repairs and alterations from Texas and we are finally going to work on them. I also bought this awesome strapless dress that has a jacket so that I can wear it to work. Unfortunately, the cut of the jacket is hideous so we my mother is going to sew it into the jacket that dreams are made of.
I’m tired and am going to go watch some HGTV.
